Identify the drawer type first
Check whether the machine has ordinary dosing compartments or an automatic dispensing system. A basic drawer may contain removable inserts. An automatic version may also include pumps, connections or electrical components. A general video putting an entire drawer beneath a tap therefore does not apply to every machine.
Bosch describes a cleaning procedure for simple drawers but separately warns about electrical components in i-DOS assemblies. Find the directions for your exact model. Do not assume dishwasher suitability merely because a drawer appears to be plastic. Construction matters more than its external appearance.
Remove it as directed
Switch the machine off and follow the required preparation. Find the intended latch or release before pulling. If the movement differs from the illustration, stop and check the version. Stubborn residue is not a reason to bend a mechanism open by force.
Keep removable inserts identifiable. Photographing their positions can help, particularly where pieces resemble one another. Do not place them where they can disappear down a drain. A system containing liquid reservoirs may need additional steps for emptying; follow the model's stated sequence rather than improvising.
Clean only permitted surfaces
Use the prescribed method and an appropriate soft tool where allowed. Notice corners and passages where residue can collect. Do not mix cleaning chemicals or independently pour liquid into the machine housing. Electrical pump modules do not simply belong in a bowl of water.
Establish which parts must be dry before replacement. Refit inserts in the correct orientation and return the drawer only as described. A reversed or missing insert can alter operation even when the drawer still closes normally. Check the assembly against the instructions before considering the task finished.
The next wash
Use compartments and dosage as directed by the machine and detergent information. Adding more product does not automatically resolve residue problems. If abnormal behaviour, leakage or an error message remains, consult model-specific support. Save the correct instructions with the appliance details so the next cleaning is not confused with the procedure for a simpler drawer.
