Weigh the parts you will use
A stated weight may cover the body alone or include cable and attachment. Check what the manufacturer has measured. A light dryer with a heavy nozzle can balance differently from the bare handle. Its centre of gravity can be as noticeable as total mass when your arm stays raised for a while.
If possible, try your normal grip and the position used to reach the back of your head. Handling a display unit while switched off can reveal whether buttons fall under your fingers. It tells you nothing about drying results or temperature, but does show something about manageability.
Adjust heat and air separately
See whether speed and temperature have independent controls. A combined switch may offer fewer combinations than a list of settings suggests. Check how a lower heat setting is selected and whether the current choice is visible. Follow the manual's recommendations for the intended use.
A cool-shot button does not necessarily deliver air below room temperature. Remington explains that dryers do not actively refrigerate the air, and operation also differs by construction. Treat the button as a control feature rather than imagining a small air conditioner inside the handle.
Reach without pulling the cable
Measure from a suitable dry operating location to the socket. The cable should allow movement without passing near water or crossing a busy route. A swivelling connection may affect handling but does not replace careful placement. Follow the manufacturer's electrical-safety instructions for both use and storage.
Filter access and storage
Look at how the air inlet is cleaned. A removable grille can help, but only remove it as permitted. A hanging loop needs a location where the appliance can cool safely. Do not wrap the cable tightly around a hot dryer or close it into storage before it has cooled sufficiently.
Separate specification from outcome
High wattage describes power consumption, not directly the time your hair will need. Attachments, settings and use affect results. Compare controls and included components without turning one number into a performance ranking. Record whether the nozzle you want is available separately in case it needs replacing later. An easy-to-handle combination is more meaningful than an impressive figure that does not describe your routine.
